3 Steps to Reducing Dark Spots from Hyperpigmentation

For women of color a.k.a. us with melanin-rich skin, hyperpigmentation can be extremely frustrating. If this sounds like you, not to worry, you are certainly not alone. It's one of the core reasons Hyper Skin was started in the first place. We at Hyper Skin wanted to create a clean & clinical skincare brand, specifically for women of color, with powerful and clinically-proven ingredients that actually work.

But for the best results, it's important to combine our Hyper Clear Brightening Clearing Vitamin C Serum with a healthy skincare regimen that works for you.

You do not need to complicate your skincare regimen anymore than it needs to be. In fact, we've made it super simple for you, by breaking down how to combat discoloration and dark spots due to hyperpigmentation in just 3 essential steps.

Step 1: Exfoliating 2x a Week

Exfoliation, simply put, is the removal of dead skin cells either by the use of an exfoliation tool, granular scrub, or chemical. For normal to dry skin, 1-2x per week should suffice. However, if you have oily / combination skin you may learn that you need to exfoliate more frequently. Pay attention to how your skin reacts to avoid over-exfoliating which can lead to redness and irritation. It could take some time to learn what method and type of exfoliation works best for your skin.

Step 2: Regenerate the Skin

Your skin will regenerate itself approximately every 27 days. Proper skincare is essential to maintaining the health and vitality of this protective organ. Hyper Skin's Hyper Clear Brightening Clearing Vitamin C Serum is formulated with a combination of fruit enzymes, bearberry, turmeric, and kojic acid that work together to attack hyperpigmentation and drastically lighten dark marks, age spots and acne scars while its natural botanicals work to minimize the occurrence of future outbreaks. We recommend this as step 2 of your daily skincare routine. Two pumps of our Vitamin C serum is all you need, three if you extend onto the neck.

Step 3: Use Sunscreen

Did you know 90% of aging is due to a lack of sunscreen and protection from the sun's harmful UV rays? Yikes! Plus, when your sun exposure is frequent, it can make dark spots appear. The harmful UV rays trigger extra melanin production as a way to defend your skin from damage. All the more reason to lather it on. Don't be a part of that statistic, protect your skin at all costs! No matter what hue you have, SPF30 will do the trick for all skin types.

Be Patient with Your Skin

Newer scars should begin to fade within a month. Older scars may, unfortunately, take longer because they are deeper within the skin. Have patience and be kind to your skin. Stick to this 3-step routine to treat hyperpigmentation - exfoliate, regenerate, and protect, and before you know it those dark spots will begin to clear up in no time.

Give your skin the boost it needs
